Who Won Best Market Sausage for 2017?

This year Prahran Market’s Sausage Fest was bigger and better than ever with more entries, more tastings and more votes!

But, there can only be one winner and this year it was Gary’s Quality Meats!

Gary’s cheese kransky stole the show for 2017, but followed close behind were Barossa Fine Foods with the Mississippi sausage and Ian’s Meats for the Saucisses D’agneau Merguez.

Aside from bragging rights, Gary’s Quality Meats wins a $500 Facebook advertising package and Cameron Coy (our lucky voter and taster on the day) has won a meat tray for the rest of the year to the value of $1000!

Thanks to all who voted and took part in the annual event!

The 2016 final results were:

1st Prize:  J & L Butchers:  Lamb Spinach and pinenut sausage

2nd Prize: John Cester’s Poultry and Game: Thai basil and chilli chicken

3rd Prize:  Kevin’s Poultry: Chicken, herb and garlic!

The 2015 final results were:

1st Prize: Gary’s Quality Meats in collaboration with Russell Gilbert (a butcher in a past life) with their Beau Thai Sausage (which, incidentally, also won a national sausage competition last year).

2nd Prize: Neil’s Meats with their Aussie lamb, honey and mint (a roast dinner in a sausage)

3rd Prize: J & L Meats with their pork, apple and pistachio (another classic combination of flavours – the pistachio chunks in this sausage really gave them an edge)
