Guided School Tours

Our guided school tours are perfect for Food Studies students and offer them a unique and curated tour experience.

From a general market introduction to a tour tailored to curriculum topics you are focussing on, we’ve got the tour for you! Our talented guides will discuss your needs well in advance to make sure your tour is exactly what you need.

Our guides can also advise on seasonality and offer suggestions on questions for the students.  Some of the curriculum topics our guides can focus on (but not limited to) are:

–         how the market is connected to the local history of the community

–         changing food trends

–         sustainability and recycling

–         biodiversity

–         shopping trends – the way we like to shop to eat, past and present

–         culture and heritage through food – many different options under the one roof

–         certified organic – what does it really mean

–         family heritage – talking to the family business traders (some are 3rd generation)

Our Traders love talking with students about food!  Always a treat for the students are the moments up close with the people of Prahran Market, who make great food their livelihood, many of whom have been doing so for generations. Many come out from behind their shopfront and some even invite the students into their shops to see behind the scenes.

Our basic tour offer is 1 hour, and we can include tastings – or not, depending on your budget and needs.  Our guides can suggest several tasting options and talk about any special dietary requirements.

We can reserve a space for your group to enjoy a break or lunch while you are here.
