Cheese lovers rejoice! Prahran Market is bringing back its Say Cheese Festival for the seventh year and, in 2020, you can participate from the comfort of your own home.

We’ll be bringing you a series of three, free cheesy events held between Thursday 10th – Saturday 12th September, so save the date, bookmark this page, and check back for schedule updates.

For all things ‘Say Cheese 2020’ head to our festival page on Food Lover’s Direct, where you can register for the free events, buy the event packs, and purchase other cheesy goodies, including our Prahran Market ‘Distance Makes the Heart Fondue’ tea towel.

 

Please note that all event packs and Say Cheese-related products are not available for collection and will incur a $15 delivery fee. These items will be sent out using the same delivery service as our Food Lovers’ Direct online marketplace. To check that you’re eligible for home delivery, please click here.

Embark on an international journey of cheese as Tobie Puttock takes you on a virtual, cheese-inspired trip around the world. Fromage fiends can register for free to learn about different varieties of local and imported cheeses supplied by some of our Deli Traders, with Chad from Pete N Rosie’s Deli on hand to answer any of your questions.

 

We’ve also put together a cheese tasting box, which is available for purchase via Food Lovers’ Direct here for those who want to taste along. The tasting box contains 14 cheeses acrosses the following traders and is priced from $55– Pete N Rosie’s Deli, Naheda’s Choice, Chaso’s Gourmet Deli, The Cheese Shop Deli, and The Food House. *Pack sales close Sunday 6th September @ 5pm)

 

DELIVERY INFORMATION

Please note this pack is not available for collection and will be delivered on either Wednesday the 9th or Thursday the 10th of September. If you have included other fresh produce from Food Lovers’ Direct in this order, your delivery will be split with your fresh produce being delivered as per normal (next Trade-day for orders placed before 4 pm) and your tasting pack on the aforementioned dates. You will also receive an email containing an access link 24 hours prior to the event.

Friday 11th September, 6 pm: Cooking with Kathy – A Cheesy Greek Dinner with Kathy Tsaples, Sweet Greek

Ever wanted to cook a Mediterranean dinner from start to finish? Now you can, with Sweet Greek’s Kathy Tsaples guiding guests through how to prepare a delicious three-course Greek meal. Of course, each of the dishes will champion cheese and be perfect for a Friday evening in iso. And if you’re keen to get in on the action, you can purchase the accompanying recipe kit box, which caters for four generous serves and are perfect for a family, or couples who love leftovers. Priced from $120, purchase your recipe kit box from Food Lovers’ Direct to cook along with Kathy at home. In addition to this kit, you’ll also need a few cooking staples, including olive oil, salt, pepper, eggs, butter, and flour.

Saturday 12th September, 3 pm: Grilled Cheese Invitational

Back for its third year, the Grilled Cheese Invitational will pit some of Melbourne’s best chef talent against each other to create the event’s best cheese toastie. The fun and free event will see contestants Jerry Mai (Annam, Pho Nom and Bia Hoi), Philip Vakos (Bahari) and Raph Rashid (Beatbox Kitchen, Juanita Peaches, and That 80s Cooking Show) preparing their creations, before the judges cook the toasties and score on name, appearance, and taste. This year’s judge line-up is Gary Mehigan (Plate of Origin, Masterchef), Darren Purchese (Burch & Purchese), and Anthony Femia (Maker & Monger). Who will win the coveted Grilled Cheese Invitational trophy?
