Bigger & Better than Ever Before

Our Say Cheese festival is back for yet another year and this time it’s bigger and better than ever before! We’ve got a stack of exhibitors, loads of tastings, and a bunch of cheesy delights for you to get your hands on. This year we’ve even spilled onto Elizabeth Street so there’s more space to enjoy your cheese. With everything from wagyu cheeseburgers, to charcoal gnocchi, twice baked goat’s cheese soufflé and vegan cheeses just to name a few – you’ll have more than enough to sink your teeth into this Saturday.

Plus, make sure you catch the cheesy cooking demos in the Omega & Neil Perry Kitchen; have your photo snapped by Melbourne Memories to be in with a chance to win a $200 cheese hamper; and get involved in the free goat feeding activity!

We’ve got loads of cheesy offerings all day, but see below for a snapshot of what you can expect to be eating. If you consider yourself a cheese lover, this is definitely your event.

Charcoal Gnocchi – 48H Pizzeria & Gnoccheria
If you haven’t had the pleasure of trying 48h Gnocchi’s charcoal gnocchi, our Say Cheese festival is your chance. Intertwined with gorgonzola cheese, radicchio and a splash of vincotto, this incredible dish tastes just as good as it looks. 48H Gnoccheria also has a stack of other cheesy delights available on the day too, including its highly coveted potato gnocchi, and buffalo milk panacotta – delish.

Cheese Fondue – Milk the Cow
Back for the second year in a row, Milk the Cow is all set to delight crowds with their amazing cheese fondue. Served alongside some crusty bread ready for dipping, this heavenly delight really needs no introduction. Find Milk the Cow at Stall 103 in Harvest Hall but you better get in quick.

Ricotta Cannoli – That’s Amore
For traditional Italian ricotta cannoli that is sure to impress, be sure to visit That’s Amore Cheese located on Elizabeth Street. Here, you’ll find the busy crew piping their mouth-watering ricotta into beautiful cannoli cases. With a fine, smooth texture and a delicate flavour, you’re going to need more than one.

Halloumi with Watermelon and Mint – Market Lane Coffee
If you’re a regular Prahran Market shopper on the weekends, you already know all about Market Lane’s mushroom burgers, but this Saturday they’ve teamed up with cheese legend Will Studd to add another item to their repertoire: halloumi with watermelon and mint. Think slices of Aphrodite halloumi, handmade in Cyprus from a combination of goat’s and ewe’s milk. Do yourself a favour and get one of these quick smart.

Wagyu Cheeseburger – Neil’s Meats
There really isn’t anything better than a thick, juicy cheeseburger – especially when it’s wagyu beef AND comes directly from the butcher. Visit the pop-up Neil’s Meats site located on Elizabeth Street that will be purely dedicated to burger flipping and dishing on the day. Then, find a spot to sit and enjoy what is definitely one of Melbourne’s best wagyu burgers.

Swiss Blue Raclette – Maker & Monger
You’ve read all about Maker & Monger’s grilled cheese toasties and traditional Swiss raclette, but now it’s time to try something new. Our very own cheesemonger Anthony Femia of Maker and Monger is set to impress this weekend with his Swiss blue cheese raclette. But be warned, this decadent dish isn’t for the fainthearted.

Wine & Cheese Flight – Pizzini Wines & Milawa Cheese Company
Wine and cheese are probably one of the best pairings of all time, which is why our friends at Milawa Cheese Company and Pizzini Wines have teamed up to offer Say Cheese goers a fabulous selection of pairings featuring both. Grab a cheese and wine flight, then relax in the Market Square as you soak up the bustling atmosphere.

Summer Ricotta Cassata – Fritz Gelato
If you’re after something sweet to cleanse the palate after all those cheese tastings, head on over to Fritz Gelato and indulge in their sumptuous ricotta cassata made with fresh ricotta cheese. It’s sweet, it’s creamy, and it’s exactly what you’re going to need to get you through the afternoon.

Twice Baked Goat’s Cheese Soufflé – Kooks Kitchen
Exclusive to Say Cheese is Kooks Kitchen’s twice baked goat’s cheese soufflé. This rich, delicious cheesy concoction is made even more special served with beetroot relish and your choice of salad. Not a bad lunch time option, right?

Selection of Goat’s Cheese – Tolpuddle Cheese
Continuing the goat’s cheese theme, Tolpuddle Cheese join us all the way from Tarrawingee along with their cute little kid goats. Sample and purchase a stack of creamy goat’s cheeses such as chevre, feta and curd, then stick around for the goat feeding activity with the kids.

Raw Vegan Cheeses & Desserts – Raw Trader
This year Raw Trader join us in Elizabeth Street with their amazing selection of raw vegan cheeses! Snap up a stunning cheese platters, or enjoy a slice of the mouth-watering raw vegan cheesecake – or get both! When cheese tastes this good, it’s hard not to stop.

Mac ‘n’ Cheese – Belleville
If you love cheese, then we’re guessing you’re a big fan of mac ‘n’ cheese? And if you’re not, you’re about to be, because Belleville’s legendary mac ‘n’ cheese is sure to blow you away! Available for one day only at our Say Cheese Festival, you’ll be treated to a creamy blend of truffled mac ‘n’ cheese, topped with bacon-Cheezle crumbs…If that’s not a cheese lover’s dream, we don’t know what is!
