Say Cheese Festival Sun 28 Oct!

Ah, cheese! Who doesn’t love it, I mean really – it’s just so CHEDDARIFFIC!   Not to mention a great source of puns…

Prahran Market is excited to once again be in full prep. mode for our annual Say Cheese Festival on Sunday 28^th October (10am – 4pm). Read on, fellow FROMAGE lovers!

The Prahran Market Say Cheese Festival is a celebration of everything that is GRATE about cheese. From savoury to sweet, room temperature to warm and oh so oozy, our resident and special-guest traders will be serving up so much cheesy GOUDA-ness you’ll BRIE in heaven.

Meet the artisans and the provedores, graze across cheese from Victoria or further afield in Australia, or sample some new international tastes, and enjoy a raft of sweet and savoury dishes that celebrate all things cheese!  We’re talking saganaki, Greek-style chips with feta, artisanal cheesy desserts by Glace, arancini, pizza, cheesey breads and pastries, cheese Kranskies and burgers, empanadas, cheese boards and charcuterie. The list goes on.

To wash it down we’ll have Vin di Vino offering Prosecco and Aperol Spritz, Hawkers Beer, Bloody Good Drop Wines and our licensed Market Square Traders including Wilson & Market and Egnaro.  Make sure you check out the full line up in the Prahran Market Events App (on iTunes and Google Play )

There will be cooking demonstrations, including Australia’s cheese royalty: Will Studd with family Ellie and Sam, as well as Maker & Monger’s Anthony Femia, along with Karen Martini. Head  Chef of Wilson & Market Ryan Spurrell will be demonstrating the winning dish from our media preview dinner, thanks to the willing taste testers amongst the group!  All the action will be MC’d by celebrated Chef, author and presenter – and Prahran Market Ambassador – Tobie Puttock.

If that wasn’t enough, this year we’ve announced the inclusion of our inaugural Grilled Cheese Invitational! A stellar lineup for of competitors going head to head to be crowned the inaugural grilled cheese champion, judged by our very special guest judges. We’re offering one lucky winner the chance to compete as our Wildcard Entrant! Check out the full details and competition Ts and Cs over here.

If you’re after something a little more experiential, we also have included this year some limited ticket tasting sessions for grown-ups (you can check those out on our event listing).

There will be giveaways and competitions, including the chance for everyone to take home a FREE copy of the book Melt: An incomparable collection of the greatest cheese recipes ever devised” with recipes by Bob Hart and cheese notes by Will Studd. We’ll also have music to chill to, music and lots of entertainment – including our friends the Bearded Bakers dancing, singing and selling their delicious cheese knafeh dessert. There’s even face painting for the kids!

And of course there will be oh-so-much cheesy deliciousness to eat, we CAMEMBERT it. Stretchy pants are recommended.
