Melbourne's #1 Food Market

7 of the Best Market Truffle Products and Tastes

Best Truffle products available all weekend

With the truffle festival at Prahran Market just days away, we thought we’d give you a bit of a heads up on where to get your hands on some of the best truffle products and tastes at the Market. Aside from the very prestigious fungi itself available at Damian Pike’s, many of our traders are offering a great selection of mouth-watering specialty ingredients for you to experiment with. How does truffle infused triple cream brie sound? Or infused eggs? Expand your culinary abilities or even just your taste buds as we get ready to celebrate this much-loved ingredient with 7 of the best truffle products available at the Market!

1. Truffle AND a whole stack of other Truffle Products – Damian Pike
So you probably already know Damian Pike is the go-to in Melbourne for truffles. With fresh Manjimup and Canberra winter truffles available, you’re going to be getting only the best in taste and quality, but if you’re not quite ready to purchase one of these bad boys, perhaps you’ll enjoy one of his many other truffle-related products instead? From free range truffle infused eggs to Pepe Saya truffle butter and even truffle pop corn – not to mention truffle honey, aioli, mustard, and tapenade, Damian certainly has more than enough to keep your cravings at bay.

2. Truffle Cheese Toasties – Maker & Monger
Not too far away from Damian, you’ll find cheesemonger Anthony Femia and his amazing toasted cheese sandwiches – made even more special this weekend with the added bonus of shaved truffle. But be careful, these little guys are not for the fainthearted!

3. French Truffle Salt – Cleo’s s Deli
Take your winter dishes up a notch with the simple inclusion of French truffle salt. Perfect sprinkled over just about anything, you’ll only need a little bit to really drive the flavour home. Add it to your roast vegies, pop it in a sandwich with cheese, sprinkle it over your popcorn or get really creative and enjoy it in a dessert – the possibilities are endless!

4. Black Truffle Oil – The Essential Ingredient
The Essential Ingredient’s black truffle oil beautifully captures the flavour of black truffle. Use it sparingly over steamed vegetables, grilled meat and scrambled eggs to intensify the dish, or use it in addition to shaved truffle to really bring out the flavour.

5. Take Home Truffle & Goat’s Cheese Ravioli – The Fresh Pasta Shop
For something a little different to your everyday pasta dish, try the goat’s cheese ravioli available at The Fresh Pasta Shop. Handmade on the premises daily, this is one of the most popular take-home meals available at the Market – but you better be quick, it doesn’t last long!

6. Duck and Wild Mushroom Risoni with Shaved Truffle – Sweet Greek
Pop into Sweet Greek to get your mitts around a mouth-watering Greek-style duck risoni with delicious shaved truffle. This winter warmer is the ideal lunchtime treat as you take a break from the hustle and bustle of Market Square! While you’re there add something sweet from Kathy’s amazing cake stand – you won’t be disappointed.

7. Truffle Martini – Chapel Street Cellars at the Market
Ever tried a truffle martini? And no we don’t mean a chocolate martini, we’re talking about a martini with real truffle! Head on over to Chapel Street Cellars and prepare to have your tastebuds tantalised when you slurp up what could only be described as one of the most prestigious cocktails of the moment. If that’s not your thing, give the truffle beer a go. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.  This is definitely one of the best truffle products on offer this weekend!
