Herb Oil- DIY

Monday 23rd May 2016

How to make your very own herb oil at home.

A tasty herb oil is a beautiful way to add extra flavour to your favourite dish and also makes a delicious ingredient for salad dressings.

They also work beautiful for dipping crusty bread, drizzled over fresh pasta dishes and a whole heap more.

Using fresh herbs will ensure a fresher flavour and more vibrant colour, and using a neutral tasting oil such as grapeseed oil works best too.

What you need:

A bunch of your favourite fresh herbs

A cup of neutral cooking oil

Food processor

Muslin cloth

Jar

Bowl of iced water

Paper towel

Saucepan with boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Wash your herbs thoroughly
  2. Blanch in boiling water
  3. Take out and immediately submerge into a bowl of iced water
  4. Drain and pat dry.
  5. Put into a food processor with a cup of oil and process until combined
  6. Pour over muslin cloth, directly into a jar.
  7. This will keep well in the fridge for a couple of weeks.
