Indian Doughnuts

  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • ½ cup yoghurt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2tsp baking powder
  • 1ltr vegetable or cottonseed oil
  • syrup:
  • 1 cup caster sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1/2tsp saffron
  • 3tbs rose water

Indian Doughnut

  1. Mix all ingredients together until it looks like a thick batter
  2. Heat oil in a pot until it reaches 180c
  3. Drop a spoon of the mix into hot oil. It must resemble a little doughnut.
  4. Fry for 2 minutes or until golden brown and straight into saffron syrup for 10 seconds and ready to serve.

Saffron syrup

  1. Put all ingredients in saucepan, bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Keep warm when you use.
