Prahran Market Eco Champions: Market Lane Coffee

As a Market, we’re committed to finding new ways and initiatives that we can operate more sustainably in our day-to-day schedule. Many of our incredible Traders share this eco-conscious mindset, going above what’s required to help save our planet and #LoveFoodNotWaste. Among these Traders, we’re shining a light on 5 businesses who we believe are ‘Eco Champions’, leading the way for sustainable change at the Market. Over the next 10 weeks, we’ll be sharing their fantastic initiatives with you, our customers, so that you can learn more about what makes each and every one of them a Prahran Market Eco Champion.

  • Their coffee bags are made from renewable plant-based materials and are compostable, and they can also be returned to the shops for recycling.
  • They work to reduce single-use materials across all their operations. If customers bring in their own coffee cup, they receive a 20-cent discount. Plus, Market Lane offers reusable and returnable stainless steel cups and containers for coffee drinks and beans.
  • The take-away cups and lids are compostable. Plastic is avoided wherever possible across the business, and Market Lane actively works with suppliers to find the most sustainable packaging solutions.
  • For every kilo of coffee that Market Lane roasts, they make a contribution to World Coffee Research in order to support their essential research efforts, which are focused on ensuring a sustainable future for coffee and the people who grow and supply it.
