Melburnians can now learn to cook like Jamie Oliver!
In his down to earth style, Tobie Puttock will lead the classes at Prahran Market while teaching people about keeping it real with food and the need to make cooking for friends and family fun. Gaining new cooking skills and food knowledge, each class will feature three recipes and will include a gift bag and a sharing meal.
Jamie’s Ministry of Food launched in order to educate Australians on the benefits of cooking with fresh food and to keep cooking skills alive in order to address the associated impacts of diet-related disease. Like learning a language cooking is an important part of any education, for future generations. Jamie’s Ministry of Food classes teach surprisingly easy methods to prepare fresh and flavourful foods for family and friends. All the recipes are easy to follow and quick to prepare and include Jamie’s hints, tips and shortcuts. Open to everyone aged 12 and up, the new classes will teach how to make delicious dishes guaranteed to impress.
With 63 % of Australian adults and 27% of Australian children classified as overweight or obese and about one-quarter of all deaths in Australia directly or indirectly associated with dietary risks, the need to learn how to prepare meals from scratch has never been more important.
Passing it on is at the heart of Jamie’s philosophy and the classes running at Prahran Market will help to raise money to support the delivery of Jamie’s Ministry of Food programs around the country. Every $1,000 raised supports two people through a seven-week proven Jamie’s Ministry of Food course or four children through Jamie Oliver’s Learn Your Fruit and Veg food literacy and cooking program.
