Meet the New Face of Prahran Market – Tobie Puttock!
We’re thrilled to announce that highly acclaimed celebrity chef Tobie Puttock is the new face of Prahran Market. The relationship will form the basis of a number of interactive Prahran Market culinary projects, drawing upon many of the already existing relationships Puttock has formed with Market traders over the years.
“I’ve been visiting Prahran Market since I was a little boy so it’s very much been a part of my life. My family and I go there several times a week not only for the amazing produce, but to talk with the lovely people that have been at the market for many, many years,” he says.“Everyone at the Market is super passionate about what they do and I learn new things whenever I have a conversation with the Market traders. I really love being able to go to a fishmonger or grocer and ask them what they think I should be cooking.”
Market shoppers can expect to see Puttock involved in a number of gastronomic projects, including regular seasonal ingredient updates, helpful cooking videos, in-house kitchen demonstrations and a whole lot more.
The Chef who found fame alongside Jamie Oliver in the hit UK TV Show, Fifteen – a social enterprise designed to teach under-privileged youths to become chefs – has more than a few accolades under his belt. From appearing regularly on TV cooking shows and at food festivals around the country, he’s gone on to write four cookbooks over the past decade and has also started his own Youtube channel, which has become part of Jamie Oliver’s Food Tube network.
“I can’t wait to start working with Prahran Market, I have lots of simple and really useful ideas. Prahran Market and I are both about fresh, seasonal ingredients and we are also both passionate about showcasing those ingredients in the best way we can. I’m really excited about helping visitors to the Market get the most out of their shopping experience,” he says.
