The Best of The Wicked Chocolate Festival

Our Wicked Chocolate Festival is back for its second year in a row on Sunday, May 7 and this time it’s double the indulgence for all chocolate lovers. Featuring a stack more exhibitors, tastings, activations, styled chill-out zones and entertainment for the whole family, this year the mighty chocolate festival will spill onto Elizabeth Street making way for even more exciting chocolate delights from our traders and fantastic pop-up exhibitors! Not sure where to start? See below for the best of this year’s Wicked Chocolate Festival.

Weiss Choc Eating Comp
Yep, it’s back again! Watch as competitors battle it out for the ultimate title of chocolate eating champion. In just two minutes, participants will put their eating skills to the test and ingest as much chocolate as they physically can while the audience cheers them on. The first person to 500g not only enjoys bragging rights, but they’ll also receive a delicious prize packed full of chocolate from the likes of Weiss, Cacao Hunters and more! If you think you’re up for the challenge, register for the ballot here.

Cioccolato Lombardo
Make sure you visit our very own chocolatier Tad Lombardo. Our resident Willy Wonka has a tempting selection of chocolate treats to keep your energy levels up for the festival. With everything from chocolate whoopie pies and decadent brownies to salted caramel lollipops and ice cream sandwiches – plus a mouth-watering selection of chocolate, you will not leave empty handed. Catch Tad’s chocolate demo in the kitchen too!

400 Gradi’s Nutella Calzone
This year 400Gradi joins the long list of exhibitors with not one but two mouth-watering options. Choc lovers will flock to the super rich baked Nutella calzone that’s packed to the max with everyone’s favourite hazelnut chocolate spread… Trust us, it’s amazing. Once you’re done with something sweet, how about sinking your teeth into the award-winning classic margherita that earnt chef Johnny Di Francesco his stripes. Come on,  it’s just a suggestion.

Chill-Out Zones with Caravan Bar & DJ
Kick back, relax and watch the world go by in our two cruisey chill-out zones. Grab a spot on the couches in Harvest Hall and listen to mellow tunes spun by DJ Chris Lisati from Neon Queen while sipping on Chapel Street Cellars’ decadent choco-tinis served from the caravan bar! If outside is more your thing, nab a space on the mezzanine above Market Square amid the stylish outdoor setting – the perfect spot to enjoy your chocolate treats!

Bash ‘n’ Splash with Very Special Kids
Feeling a little cheeky? Shoppers will have the very rare opportunity to splash select traders with chocolate milk just by successfully hitting a target. The best part? It’s all in the name of charity!

Foost – Blend Your Own Smoothies with Very Special Kids
Want to work off all that chocolate? Jump on the Foost bikes attached to a blender and peddle to blend your very own smoothie! All you need is a gold coin. Easy.

Zumbo Pop-Up Dessert Bar
This year the crew from Zumbo Patisserie are setting up shop at the Market with their awe-inspiring dessert bar. Come along to try one of their many delectable desserts. At this stage the menu is still top-secret but we can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Producers’ Stage
Learn all about chocolate at the Producers’ Stage located just out the front of Cioccolato Lombardo in Harvest Hall. Weiss, Cacao Hunters and Daintree Estate will give back-to-back talks on the history and manufacturing of chocolate and in true Market style, there’ll also be some free tastes!

Omega by Neil Perry Kitchen
Watch as your favourite ingredient comes alive in the Omega by Neil Perry Kitchen. Demonstrations from Market chocolatier Tad Lombardo, pastry chef Christy Tania and chocolatier Julie Whitehead are sure to impress crowds. And there will be the chance to win one of the delicious dessert dishes – trust us when we say: it’s going to be good!
