Grilled Cheese Invitational 2019

Friday 1st November 2019

Round two of the Grilled Cheese Invitational did not disappoint, with tension that mounted across social and digital platforms as competition day approached! And wow was there some grilled deliciousness served up to our judging panel! Scroll on for highlights of this year’s competition, with the title of 2019 Grilled Cheese Champion taken out by Chef Darren Purchese of Burch and Purchese Sweet Studio with his toastie – the Ched Bundy Serial Griller – against some very tough competition! Thanks again to all of our 2019 competitors Coskun Uysal of Tulum Restaurant, Charlie Carrington of Atlas Dining, Silas Orre of Curly Whiskers, Frankie Cox Private Chef formerly of Two Hands NY and a special thanks to our awesome Wildcard Competitor Charlie Daniels (who also had the best.headpiece.ever!!)

Thanks as always to our expert MC and Chef Ambassador Chef Tobie Puttock, along with our judging panel Dan Stock, Herald Sun, Karen Martini Chef & Media Personality, Alice Zaslavsky ABC Culinary Correspondent, Kay-Lene Tan, Head Pastry Chef Tonka & Coda (and winner of the 2018 Invitational), and Cheesemonger Anthony Femia of Maker and Monger.

We went live on Facebook for the duration – you can watch here, or scroll on for more photos.
