Last-Minute Christmas Gift Ideas at Prahran Market

Sure there are some who had their Christmas gifting sorted months ago – but would it even be Christmas if there wasn’t a bit of last-minute rush?!

If you – like us – are on the lookout for a few last-minute gift ideas, here’s our roundup of some of the things we are currently eyeing off at Prahran Market.

The best part? You can also grab your gift wrap supplies while you are here from the Donnally Variety Shop!

Gingerbread Houses and Cookies

We’ve got gingerbread in all sorts of shapes, sizes and constructions right around the Market, from people to houses and more. We are currently eying off the beautiful handmade Houses at Chasos Gourmet Deli.

Sweet Greek has some lovely looking cookies that are made in house, while Pete N Rosie’s has the popular, and beautifully packaged, Gingerbread Angels and Mini Christmas Trees from Philippa’s.

Diet-friendly feasting

For the fodmap foodie in your life, head to Stir the Pot, who specialise in diet-friendly meals. We hear they even have Gluten Free Christmas Puddings and Fruit Mince Pies. Around the corner at Sweet Greek, you will find Gluten-Free cakes aplenty, including a beautiful looking (and tasting) Christmas Cake, ready to go!

A beautiful Panettone

Share a gift of tradition with a beautiful Panettone. Enjoy it warmed or toasted, perhaps a glass of something bubbly on the side. It’s hard to pick amongst our Deli Traders – they know their Panettone! But if we had to pick one, we are currently eying off the Dolce and Gabbana Panettone in a stunning tin (& D&G bag) we spotted at Cleos. Choose from various sizes, two round or the large square that comes with pistachio paste and a knife.

Something growing (or grow your own)

Prahran Garden Centre has the sweetest range of little succulents which are just lovely wrapped as they are, or popped into one of their well-chosen range of little pots.

A living poinsettia is always well received – choose from festive red, white or pink. Choose your favourite from either Prahran Garden CentreClara’s Flowers or Flawless Flowers. Or head to Shop Neutral for their range of Little Veggie Patch Seeds, or fantastic micro-herb planter kits to give an edible gift that you can grow yourself.

Edible Treats

The gift of a box of cherries is always a good idea, for a few or for a crowd – all plump and shiny, ready to be enjoyed in salads, drinks, desserts (or gobbled as they are). Head for Harvest Hall for those.

Have you tried Christmas Bush Honey from Whisked? It comes in a branded tin and is only available at certain times of the year – including this one! Or head for the Turkish Delight Shop in Harvest Hall, where you will now find luxe gift boxes in various sizes for packaging up their mouth-watering bites.

We also are eyeing off the Supremo Torrone nougat in a woven box at Casa Delicatess along with the fantastic fruit and nut hampers from the Sweet & Nut Shop, including nuts, dried fruit, biscuits, chocolate and sweets.

And we’ve got more than one stroll planned through The Essential Ingredient, for their range of beautiful French sweets to infused vinegars and oils, condiments, herbs and spices, and simply everything in between. Don’t miss their cookbook range, including lots of author-signed copies!

And for a little something else

For the coffee lover, Market Lane Coffee has the fabulous Stelton Jug, a Scandinavian vacuum jug that keeps freshly brewed coffee hot for hours. Or for the tea lover, how about a Fine Bone China Mug from Libertea. And we are loving the range of musical or nostalgic crackers over at Jasper’s Coffee. And for the Market-lover, we think the fabulous shopping trolley at Prahran Hardware has to be high on the list. They come with insulated front pockets and a pocket for an umbrella!

#MerryMarketChristmas everybody. We’ll see you at the Market!
