Welcome to Prahran Market, the oldest continuously running Market in Australia. We are known as "the food lovers market" because of the quality and range of our food. 

Prahran Market has the best food in Melbourne at all price points. For those looking for a special item, Prahran Market is the place to find those hard to get specialties including heritage varieties of fruit and veg. For those looking for value, at Prahran Market you can always get the freshest, tastiest food at great prices. 

On Saturday from 3pm, Prahran Market is a frenzy of bargains - with $1 bags of the best fruit and veg, trays of fish and meat at great prices and the famous fish auction at Claringbolds starting at 4.30pm. The Prahran Market is proud to launch the "Prahran Market Chess Club"

Prahran Market is excited to announce it is launching a community Chess Club which is proudly sponsored by Bendigo Bank Prahran Market Branch. Pictured on the left is the Mayor of Stonnington, Cr Tim Smith getting into the spirit with David Cordover from Chess Kids.

Starting in September, the Prahran Market Chess Club is open to everyone. The Chess Club will operate every Saturday morning from 18^th September between 10am-1pm in the Prahran Market Square.

Anyone can just turn up to play - no booking required and there is no cost involved.

There will be social chess games for beginner and intermediate players and challenge the Master for expert players. Don't know how to play? Don't let that put you off - we will be holding "Learn to Play" sessions as well!

Do you want to help us run the new Chess Club? Prahran Market is looking for Volunteers to help run the Chess Club on Saturday mornings. A love of the great game of Chess is a must! Interested? Call 1300 4 CHESS (1300 424377) for more information.

 

Upcoming event: FREE cooking demonstrations on Tuesday mornings

For the next three weeks, "Mish Delish" will be giving free cooking demonstrations in the Market Square on Tuesday mornings 11am - 12pm (7 September and 14 September).

Mish Lilley - Home Cook, Blogger, Writer and Cooking Demonstrator   

Creator of popular food blog mishdelish.com, Mish launched her food career with her catering business Mishka La Mushka. But after feeding over 600 hungry mouths at the launch of the Volvo XC90, designing food in endless hat boxes for the Spring Racing Carnival and creating too many themed kids birthday parties to mention, Mish realised her true passion was creating restaurant quality meals at home for her family and friends. Now with three kids under five, Mish understands how hard it can be to get good food on the table let alone get your kids to eat it. At her Prahran Market demonstrations, Mish will share hints and tricks from keeping an organised pantry to creating amazing meals in your own kitchen. Come along and get inspired!

Maris Piper potatoes

Maris Piper potatoes are the United Kingdom's favourite potato variety. They are a great all rounder and can be used for jacket potatoes, chips, wedges, mashing, boiling and roasting. Local Venison from West Gippsland
