Weiss Chocolate Eating Competition- Sunday 7th May, Omega and Neil Perry Kitchen, 12noon
To Enter
- Seven contestants will be selected at random following a ballot.
- Three back-up contestants will further be selected to attend the event in case an original contestant fails to turn up.
- Contestants wishing to register in the ballot must be 18 years of age.
- To enter the ballot, contestants must email chocolate@prahranmarket.com.au and include their name, age and phone number. Entries that are received without these details will not be eligible for inclusion.
- By entering the ballot, contestants also agree to receive Prahran Market’s monthly e-newsletter (which can be unsubscribed from)
- The ballot will open Thursday 30th March 2017 at 1200 AEST and will close on Monday 24th April 2017 at 1200 AEST.
- Seven contestants will be drawn randomly on Wednesday 26th April 2017 and contestants will be notified by email and phone on Thursday 27th of April 2017. Three back up contestants will also be drawn and notified.
The Contest
- Each competitor will start with exactly 500gm of chocolate buttons.
- The contest will last exactly two (2) minutes.
- Once the contest starts, the competitors will consume their allotted chocolate.
- If a competitor finishes their allotted 500gms of chocolate before the contest is complete, they will be announced as the winner.
- Once the contest is complete, each competitor’s remaining chocolate will be taken to be weighed by the Executive Judge.
- The winner will be determined by the total weight of chocolate eaten, measured by an official contest scale in kilograms and grams by the Executive Judge. In the event of a tie between competitors, there will be a 60 second “run off” to determine the winner.
The Prize!
- Not only will the winner be able to enjoy bragging rights of ‘owning’ the Weiss Chocolate Eating Competition, they’ll also receive a delicious prize, packed full of chocolate from the likes of Cacao Hunters, Weiss and more, valued at $250!
- There will also be prizes for second and third too that will be valued at $100 and $50 respectively.
Official Chocolate Eating Contest Rules
Eating competitions (in this case a chocolate eating competition) are inherently dangerous activities and all participants expressly and voluntarily assume the risk of any and all injury and damage that may result from participating in eating competitions. Participants understand that such risks include, but are not limited to, possible bodily injury, partial or total disability, paralysis, death or other injuries or damages. Selection of participation in the event and the risks of loss, damage or injury shall at all times remain with and be borne by each participant. Participants will be required to execute a Waiver of Liability, Release, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement before participation. Contest rules are subject to change.
Official Rules
The chocolate eating competition is open to all amateur eaters 18 years or older who are in good health. Any competitor with a serious ailment or health problem may not compete in the contest. Competitors may eat sitting down or standing up in their designated areas. Any contestant leaving their designated area during the contest will be disqualified. Competitors may not make physical contact with any other competitor at any time. Any competitor who deliberately makes contact with another competitor will be disqualified. If a competitor vomits or regurgitates at any time during the competition or during the time period the chocolate count is being tallied, he or she will be disqualified. The use of utensils is not allowed. Competitors may not touch the chocolate before the contest begins. If contingencies or disputes arise at the contest/before, during or after, that is not explicitly covered by these official rules, the Executive Judge’s decision will stand with the same finality as the rules.
